Baptisms

Recently, my two youngest siblings were baptized!  A very cool thing to be a part of!  NT decided he was going to be baptized on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011.  Elaina decided quite some time ago, that she wanted to be baptized on her birthday when it fell on Mother's day, which happened this year on her 14th birthday, May 8, 2011.

As a Christian, we get baptized to publicly confess that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior.  He set the example and He commands it.  It symbolizes the washing away of our old, sinful self and rising again to life, putting on our new self.  It is an outward expression of an inward decision.

"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." - Romans 6:4

"At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan." - Mark 1:9

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20
